New Stamps From DRS Designs

I'm loving the new stamps that are available now from DRS Designs. They are all from a summer animal theme that includes the Lazy Leopard (193L) I used in my previous post, and the Lion King (181G). There's also Summer food-type stamps like Lemonade (121H) and Watermelon (095H), and water animals like a seal(112E), an octopus (147E) and this Happy  Shark(153G)!  You can check them all out along with their matching sentiments on the New Release page as soon as they become available for purchase!

I used Copic Markers to color this not-so-friendly-underwater friend.  But, look at that face.  He doesn't look very mean, does he?  I then used a Fiskars border punch to appropriately add waves underneath him. The Killer Birthday sentiment (175D) is also part of this new release. I used a Nestability die to cut it out and sponged blue ink around it while it was still in the die to highlight it a little.

I hope you enjoy the seeing the new stamps and have a wonderful day!

CAS Happy Thoughts

We're preparing for my sons 1st birthday party so this week has been hectic. (Still trying to get over the shock that his birthday is practically here!!) So, I went with a Clean and Simple card for this weeks DRS Blog Challenge.

The theme is flowers and I apologize this card didn't photograph very well. I used the Spring Crocus Flower (1066H) for my focal image, colored it with Copic Markers, and layered it with cardstock. I used plain white cardstock for my card base. I stamped it with the One Line Happy Thoughts (951D) sentiment off center to the right and then used a Score Pal to create an embossed square line around the area where I placed the image.  As a final touch I added matching pink rhinestones for a little bling!

Heavy Metal

Running behind as usual..sorry for not posting this earlier, but here is my entry for the latest DRS Designs Blog Challenge.

The theme is Heavy Metal, so I used a bottle cap (remember those!?!) to frame the Tiny Happy Birthday Sentiment (1081A) along with some decorative star brads. I created the background paper using the Starry Background (124H) by stamping it first with yellow ink, then turning the stamp in a different direction before stamping it with red ink. The focal image was made using the Single Birthday Candle (258B) and the Slice of cake (261F) with the masking technique and then it was colored with Copic Markers. I hope it looks almost good enough to eat! ;-)

Flying Friend

This Hummingbird image (067L) is a lot of fun to color. I made this for the DRS Blog Challenge this week for the Flying Friends theme. It's by DRS Designs and it's one I haven't used in quite a bit. It's amazing how a little color makes this image come to life!

I colored it with Copic Markers and embellished it with gems, brads and a perfect baby blue bow. To accent the bird's eye, I even used a small gem colored with a Black Copic Marker for its eye. Check out the challenge details, and inspiration from the DRS Design Team HERE. Then link your Flying Friends card for a chance to win some Free DRS stamps!

Good Luck and have a wonderful day!

Hello and Happy Tuesday to you all!  Hope you're having a great week thus far.

The challenge theme this week on the DRS Designs Blog is Summer.  The first thing that came to mind for me is a BBQ.  We have people over our house for them all the time during the warm Summer months.

Balloon Bouquet

I'm still slowing going thru all of the cards I created while on my stamping girls weekend a month ago and for my post today I'm showing off another one.

I made this birthday card using the Single Balloon Postage Frame (039F) from DRS Designs. It's primary use is to dress up the front of a mailing envelope. You would stamp it in the right upper corner of the envelope and then place the postage stamp in the space where I've stamped the Tiny Happy Birthday Greeting (1081A). Instead, I've used it as the focal image on this card by stamping it repeatedly on different colored cardstock to create a bouquet of balloons. The background was created by sponging light blue ink and then using a cloud template to sponge the clouds with a darker blue ink. Different colored pieces of twine were perfect for the balloon strings. Hope I've inspired you to think about your stamps in a way that you wouldn't ordinarily use them.

 Have a great day!

 Smiles,
Jennifer
