Thanksgiving Blessings

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you who are celebrating this wonderful holiday today!

We have a big family party planned for today and our house smells wonderful with the turkey in the oven! How are you celebrating today?

Here is a card I created from inspiration I found on Pintrest for today's challenge on the DRS Designs website, Happy Thanksgiving. I love the simple layout and how the twine is wrapped around the background banner.

I started first by coloring the Autumn Wreath (429M) with Copic Markers and then I carefully cut it out. Next, I assembled the card base using Kraft cardstock. I wrapped the twine around the red banner, adhered it in place and used a corner rounder on a small piece of dark brown cardstock. Then I ran it through the Swiss Dots embossing folder and adhere it inplace on top of the red banner. I placed the wreath in the center and added a small twine bow to the far left side. As a finishing touch, Thanksgiving Blessings (637E) was stamped at the bottom of the cardstock base.

Well, that's it for me today. I'm off to spend some quality time with our family and cherish all that we are thankful for.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Pink Birthday!

Hi Everyone! Hope this post finds you well! Today I'm taking a break from all the holiday cards to show off a birthday card I sent to Operation Write Home. I kept it CAS, but I love how it turned out with all the different shades of pink!

I created the background paper for this card by stamping the Single Birthday Candle (258B) repeatedly and coloring them with Copic Markers. I layered it with dark pink cardstock that was decorated with a border punch and adhered it to the center of a piece of medium shade of pink card stock used for the card front. I used a decorative corner punch in all four corners and added 3 little white pearls to the lower right area under the decorative border.

The focal point I used for this card is DRS Designs Funky Birthday Image (494D) which was matted with a scalloped square and popped up on foam tape.

Thanks for stopping by!

Red, White and Blue Christmas

It's time to share my Star Spangled Christmas card with you! That's the new challenge posted on the DRS Designs Blog today! You are required to create a Christmas card in red, white and blue colors or use stars on it.

I've been pressed on time this week (yes, again!) so it's another Clean and Simple card. However, it is festive and easy to make if you need to mass produce it.  (How many Christmas cards do YOU still need to make this year??)

The first step in making this was cutting out the white cardstock with the Top Note die and then stamping "Merry Christmas" (364B) in the lower right corner. Then I stamped it with the Interlocking Snowflake Background (015H). I matted it with red cardstock and then attached it to an A2 blue cardstock base.  I matted the vertical red panel with blue cardstock and then added 3 snowflakes, each with a red brad to hold it in place.

Interested in playing along as well? DRS Designs is giving away 3 great stamps that would be perfect for finishing your Christmas cards or creating Winter cards. Check out all the details HERE.

Thanks for stopping by and please come back soon!

Classic Turkey Thanksgiving

Can you believe it's the middle of November already?!?!?! With that, Thanksgiving is only 2 weeks away and, dare I say it, Christmas is only about 6 weeks away! Have you made any Thanksgiving cards yet?

I created this one for this weeks DRS Designs Blog challenge, Rip Torn. We are to use ripped or torn paper on our project.  This is also to show off DRS Designs new Classic Turkey image (1033H) and classic it is! I just love this image and I love how his feathers turned out colored with Copic Markers!

I started with an A2 dark brown cardstock base.  The card front was embossed with the swiss dots folder on the lower half and the Thanksgiving Arc (050E) was stamped near the upper portion. I used a corner punch on all 4 corners and distressed the edges with brown ink.

For the middle panel I stamped the Polka Dot Background (688P) on ivory cardstock and ripped the bottom edge. Then, I used a decorative border punch on the red cardstock panel and ripped the bottom layer of that as well. I simply tied some red and white twine to the middle before adhering it to the card front.  Finally, I added some dimension to the the card front by adhering the turkey image with foam tape.

I appreciate you stopping by today and hope that you'll play along with our Ripped Torn challenge. Check out all the details HERE, including the great prize DRS Designs is giving away this week.

Have a great day!

Wonderful As You!

Hi Everyone!
I'm posting here today to remind you that it's time to start thinking of the next holiday now that Halloween is over. I'm sharing a Thanksgiving card with you today that has a unique fold.  No worries though, the finished card size is still 5.5" x 4.25"!

The top flap on the front of my card was created using the Wonderful As You Thanksgiving Greeting (216g).  I wanted this to be the focal point of my card, so I used a decorative Nestability die to show it off. I sponged the inside of the die with brown ink and then used a fine point marker to outline the inside edge.  Then I stamped the sentiment with brown ink.  The background of this top flap was decorated with the Silhouette Branch Background (363H). I matted it with dark brown cardstock and then added orange ribbon and a button tied with orange embroidery floss.

This picture reveals how the card opens.  there's a fold on both the right and left sides of the card. As you can see, I decorated the orange cardstock on the middle flap with the Woven Plaid stamp (613p) and 2 brown brads.  As a final touch, I added some cardstock layers to the inside of the card so that there was a space to write a personal message.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!

Big Thanks to Our Veterans!

Happy Veteran's Day to all of those who have served in the past, present, and future!

This card was made to honor them using stamps from DRS Designs.  The
Veterans Day Greeting (411H)was stamped in blue ink and the Star Ribbon Slide (963D) which was heat embossed and fussy cut. I kept the layout simple and used the colors red, white, and blue--the only colors I thought were appropriate for a patriotic card like this.

Big thanks to all of our Veterans and Soldiers. I appreciate your service, bravery, and sacrifices and your dedication to our country has not gone unnoticed!

Jennifer

Stay Off Your Seat

We all love the food that Thanksgiving brings but along with it come plenty of yummy calories! However, as mentioned in this greeting from DRS Designs, hopefully they all stay off your seat! LOL! We can only hope though, right?

This CAS card was created for this weeks DRS Designs Blog Challenge, "Who's A Turkey?" All of the stamps I used are by DRS Designs. The Turkey Dinner (501F) image was colored with Copic Markers. The Stay Off Your Seat Greeting (795G) was stamped on the vertical panel, and "Happy Thanksgiving" (841D) was stamped on the card front above the image. Finished card size is 5.5" x 4.25."

Hope you'll join the challenge this week and show off your turkeys!
Have a great day!

Be Thankful!

It's that time of year when many of us reflect on all of the blessings we have and share the things we are thankful for. Here's a card I created with stamps from DRS Designs with these thoughts of Thanksgiving in mind.

I started with an A2 brown cardstock base and heat embossed it using clear embossing powder and the Silhouette Branch Background (363H). The ivory layer on the card front was stamped lightly with Woven Plaid (613P). I stamped and colored the Be Thankful Cross (634G) on another piece of cardstock and then fussy cut it out. I then adhered it in the center of the card front and the ivory layer was matted with tan cardstock. I added 2 brads to the upper corners and then added sheer brown ribbon to the bottom. This was adhered to the card base and my card was complete.

So, what are you thankful for this year?
As always, I am thankful for being healthy, having a wonderful husband and family and being blessed with a beautiful son. Butm this year I am especially thankful for a healthy pregnancy and I'm eager to meet our new son in January!

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day!

Smiles,
Jennifer
